I have to ask, since I can't seem to find a piece mentioning it, but your work it IS vector, correct? I've seen some insanely convincing 'fake' vector made in photoshop before, so I am curious. I vector myself and I must say if this work is vectored ( or even if its not), then I am envious of your skill and also these must take an utterly huge amount of time for the level of detail!

This is a very nice piece, I love your lines, they have a lot of surety.

This is not vectored, and most of my work is Raster. I only have a few vectored images in my gallery.

These are my only vectors posted here from oldest to newest: [link] [link] [link] [link] [link]

Thank you very much for the compliments though! This image took roughly 30-45 minutes, though I've had a LOT of practice.

Ah, is there any reason why you choose raster? I'm curious because, for me anyway, trying to use shop feels like drawing with my right hand tied behind my back, blindfolded. In other words it frustrates me immensely. But then I see work like this.

I'm new to the world of digital artwork myself, I've always preferred traditional, but have been teaching myself illustrator in my spare time.

I love gesture drawing! I much prefer more organic strokes, actually feeling with my hands what marks are being made on the canvas or paper. With vectors, it sort of sucks the fun and life out for me. It's too technical. Though AI is very useful!

It might also be the fact that I don't have a tablet. I have use a tablet with pain tool sai before and I have to say that maybe if I had one, and I am saving up, then I might use raster more. It was still frustrating, but significantly less so, and I think I could get used to it.

My boyfriend swears that I'll eventually come to like photoshop more, once we get a tablet, I think I may still prefer AI for backgrounds though, but I can see what you mean about it being a little technical, manipulating anchor points can be frustrating.

Sorry for the over long conversation, I hope you don't mind.

Ah, that does explain a lot. Programs like SAI and Photoshop can't read pressure sensitivity with a mouse! If you do start with a tablet, I recommend the Wacom Bamboo. It's what I started on, and I still have mine! Bought it in 2007, still works like new.

The anchor points aren't so bad once you get the hang of it. It's just that all the 'feeling' is taken out when you make it precise and exact.

And don't worry, I enjoy these kinds of conversations. :)

That looks almost exactly like a normal unicorn! Well as some old pictures portray them to look... Normal unicorns really don't have the same tails or the same hooves like normal ponies/horses( but hey, everyone is entitled to their opinions, and I appreciate all of them...sometimes).. I just love how you did the whole entire picture! :iconcryforeverplz: it just makes me wanna cry forever...
